Food Safety

Olivia's Organics products are conscientiously cultivated on certified organic farms exclusively in the U.S. From the field to the fork, we follow a series of meticulous procedures to help safeguard our products and their wholesomeness. Our best business practices include:

Cold Water WashedIn keeping with our consistent temperature regulation, we have developed a Cold Water Wash process that is one of the most effective in the industry. It rids products of naturally occurring yet undesired matter.

USDA OrganicAdherence to strict organic regulations as outlined by the National Organic Program is our goal. We only work with growers who assure us that their respective organic farming system relies on ecologically based practices such as cultural and biological pest management, and the exclusion of all synthetic chemicals, antibiotics, and hormones in crop production. We only work with farmers who emphasize the use of renewable resources when cultivating their crops. By recycling naturally occurring materials, farmers are also helping to conserve natural resources.

Olivia's Organic Salad Greens are packaged in our state of the art facilities under the strictest HACCP guidelines and industry standards. HACCP (Hazard Analysis Critical Control Point) is a methodical approach in assessing and controlling food safety hazards. Third party food industry auditors recognize this system as the most effective and efficient way to help ensure that food products are safe.

Using HACCP, Olivia's Organics scientifically analyzes its preparation methods, identifies critical control points and establishes critical limits and monitoring procedures. This dynamic process includes continuous recording and documentation promoting problem solving and prevention. Instead of relying solely on periodic facility inspections, Olivia's Organics adopts managerial practices to help achieve all our food safety goals. Preventive rather than corrective action is the key to the success of our program.

AIB (American Institute of Baking) International
is a non-profit organization founded in 1919 as a technology transfer center for bakers and food processors. An independent food safety auditor, AIB derives its criteria from good management principles and practices from resources including the US Federal Food Drug and Cosmetic Act and US Military Standards. AIB International is now a leader in providing food safety solutions to a variety of food processors and distributors worldwide.

AIB International has been commissioned to evaluate the adequacy of the Olivia's Organics Food Safety Program. The audit and inspection scrutinizes our management responsibilities, pest control practices, operational methods, maintenance for food safety, and cleaning practices. AIB auditors are involved in every step of the food supply chain. They have become an invaluable resource in our continuous commitment to producing, packing, and distributing safe, high-quality foods. Olivia's Organics has a rating of SUPERIOR, the best rating possible.
